I had the TV to myself tonight so I finally had my chance to watch "Entourage" on the DVR. I had recorded it on Sunday but was just now getting the chance to watch it. I had watched the show some over the years. We've only had HBO for about a year so I have missed quite a few seasons. But I'm enjoying it this season. Later I wanted to watch "Rescue Me" on FX. I had dvr'd it on Tuesday. I was mainly interested in the show because of this focus group. I wanted to give a cable show a chance. I started to watch it, but wasn't really into it. Maybe because I was tired or maybe because I didn't know much about the characters. I didn't delete the show. I hope to go back to it over the weekend.

Day 3 - Wednesday

Tonight we started with "The Middle" on ABC. We really enjoy this show. We watched this episode because we missed it when it was on originally. We can relate to the family in the show. We also stayed with ABC and watched "Modern Family." This is another show we really enjoyed this season. At 9, we checked out HGTV. We go through phases where we'll watch a lot of HGTV. Right now, we've been watching it a lot. We really enjoy "House Hunters" at 10 and "House Hunters International" at 10:30. We watch it live. It's fun to see the houses the people are looking at and it's fun to guess which one they may buy. The pay-off at the end is to see what they have done to the house since they have moved in.

Day 2

Tonight I started out watching the Reds game on Fox Sports Ohio, which led into prime-time. I'm a big Reds fan and they are having a great season. I really enjoy baseball and I usually watch most games. Between innings I flip around the channels. I usually check to see what is on the HBO HD channels, I'll check out HGTV and other cable channels like Bravo and A&E. At 10pm, the DVR recorded "Intervention" on A&E. My daughter likes the the program, so she, my wife and myself started watching it at about 10:30. It's nice to have the show get a head start so you can zip past the commercials. We usually watch this show every week, but usually a day or so later off of the DVR.

Day 1

Viewing Habits:
Over the past several months my viewing habits have changed a lot. I'm trying to get my business going so I'm working those long hours. But I still try to take a break in the evening and catch some shows. It was just an hour or so, but now I'm watching several hours a night. I usually catch an hour or so between 8 and 9 and then come back at 10 and may stay until Midnight.

I would say I'm 50/50 on live vs DVR. If it's a show the whole family watches, we may DVR it, and start watching 15-20 minutes after it has started. We then catch up with the live stream. But getting everybody in there at the start is why we rely on the DVR.

Favorite Shows:
Since we are still technically in the 09-10 TV season, I'll say LOST #1. Love the fact that it didn't wrap up neatly after 44 minutes. Awesome character development!! I think the Flashbacks and Flash Forwards really sucked people in. Other shows have tried to copy it, but for some reason can't capture the magic.
House Hunters: I seem to go through phases where I rely on HGTV for shows, and right now I'm in that phase and House Hunters is on a lot. But I love the show. It's fun to see these houses and then see how they make them their own.
Project Runway: This is probably weird for a 50 year old guy to like, but I enjoy watching it with my daughter. Maybe I just like Heidi Klum, but I like Tim Gunn and the designers and what they put into their designs.

Favorite Networks:
HGTV: There are very few shows I don't like on this channel. I realize these shows have their formulas, but I love to see what others are doing, how they do it, and how it turns out.

HBO: Didn't have a premium channel for a long time and when we did, we never watched it. We switched to HBO because of a deal with Time Warner Cable and because Hard Knocks was going to feature the Bengals. Plus it has some pretty good programming. Good movies, great specials, concerts and great original shows like Entourage, Hung and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

TLC: I really enjoyed "Flip This House" and "Property Ladder" My daughter watches one of the "Cake Boss" also. I like "LA Ink" even though I would probably never get a tatoo.

Fun Exercise:
TLC: Cat- a bit playful, a bit confrontational, sweet, comfortable

Bravo: Old view-Lion- King of the jungle. The Bravo I liked was the high brow days of years ago. Cool, cool movies and non-mainstream concerts and shows. I liked when they had "Project Runway" but now it seems like all the other cable channels. Now: Pig- Watching people that aren't really like you at all, & not really admit to watching it. Wallows in the dirt and mud, but good to eat.

A&E: Dog - real. What you see is what you get. A bit more close knit. Faithful
